Youngstown City Schools Board Members, Superintendent Justin Jennings, Deputy Superintendent Jeremy Batchelor, and Treasurer Bryan Schiraldi spent their first of what looks to be an annual retreat getting to know one another outside of their bi-monthly meetings and future planning.
"We set goals for the board and learned different strategies that will guide us through the school year," said Tiffany Patterson, YCSB President. "Our Strategic Plan has placed increased accountability on the school board and administrators, so we want to make sure members remain focused on improving our scholars' achievement."
One of the highlights of the retreat was learning about the new YCSD website. Communications and Public Relations Director Stacy Quinones told the group that after months of hard work and dedication, the site is almost complete. Complete with a fresh new look, the new website also includes an APP that can be downloaded from the Google Play store and Apple APP Store. It will provide visitors with an easier way to learn about what's going on in the district, school closings, bus cancellations, and more. An official rollout date is expected soon.
At the retreat, the group also was given an update on buildings and land owned by the school system and what it means for the district. The board is looking forward to a continued successful relationship with YCSD.
